TWD: My Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

This week,  Kait of Kait's Plate selected My Best Chocolate Chip Cookies. Chocolate chip cookies have  several of different camps: thin and crisp, thin and chewy, cakey, and thick and chewy.  My cookies had great flavor, lots butter and brown sugar, they were chewy, but were to thin. These cookies seemed malnourished, with chips sticking out all over the place.  I like my chocolate chip cookies thick enough to hide the chips, crisp on the edge and chewy in the center.

However, even in my own family opinions differ vastly, my son and his friend loved these cookies. In fact Boy Mimi made a second batch the next day. He wanted them crispier so he added 1/4 cup more flour and baked them a few minutes longer and his cookies were thin and crispy

While not my favorite chocolate chip cookie, with a glass of milk, these cookies were tasty.  If you want to see what all the fuss is about and  bake these chewy chocolate chip cookies visit Kait for the recipe or pick up a copy of Dorie's book Baking: From  My Home To Yours.  To see what the other bakers cooked up visit the TWD blog roll.

Mimi, these cookies look fabulous. I'm a middle of the road choc. chip cookie person. I like mine not too soft, yet not too crisp. I agree, I don't like to see my chips on the outside either. Although it is difficult to acheive that. Now I'm in the mood for a fresh batch. Have a happy Tuesday.

They look amazing, but I agree, a malnourished chocolate chip cookie isn't a big draw. Luckily there are so many CCC recipes out there!

Beautiful photos! Glad someone enjoyed them! I gave most of mine away and they were very popular. I found them a bit thin too.

You've inspired me to bake cookies now, and I'm on a dog gone diet, so no-can-do right now. I LOVE your photography, Mimi! Great work! Ciao, Roz

Malnourished.. funny! They did kinda look that way. But I have a feeling none of us who eat many of them will look malnourished.

I think I'm definitely in Boy Mimi's camp - chocolate poking out is always the way to go,....and thin, and crisp, meaning more chocolate per square centimetre! They look lovely....

i did another version that i thought was much better though :)

These turned out beautifully. I know the texture of these cookies can be quite a point of contention, though! Thanks for baking with me.

Malnourished cookies, lol! Yours look perfect and I'm glad at least one family member loved them. I chopped my chocolate and it got well incorporated in the dough.

Grins. I'm definitely a thin and chewy with the chips poking out. This looks like a great recipe and one that I will enjoy. Thank you for your beautiful post.

French fries are a vegetable? I wish you'd been my mom.

You're right - those poor chips sticking out all over the cookies. So painful to look at. We must put them out of their misery by eating them all.

Malnourished? Too funny. Well, sorry you weren't best pleased with your results, but I would have been happy to take them off your hands! All of them.

I love chocolate chip cookies just the way you do-thick with crispy edges and chewy in the center. However, I don't think I have ever met a chocolate chip cookie that I did not enjoy. I have made some bad batches in my life and I still managed to find enjoyment eating them. :-)

P.S. Your cookies look wonderful.

They look so chewy! My favorite! And love the milk in a mason jar. Just like at Grandma's ;)

How can you go wrong with a chocolate chip cookie. Yum!

The Blonde Duck said...

So if ketchup and French fries count as veggies, can gravy count as dairy? It has milk in it? You know for those tasty fried chicken baskets....

They looked good though. Good enough for me to wish I didn't have this "thing" against baking cookies.
